To me, Indian Classical Dance is an Aradhana (prayer) from time immemorial, and this is my offering to Nataraja and Natvara the two dancing aspects of Divinity.
आंगिकम भुवनम यस्यवाचिकं सर्व वाङ्ग्मयम
आहार्यं चन्द्र ताराधि
तं नुमः वन्दे सात्विकं शिवम्
We bow to Him the benevolent One
Whose limbs are the universe,
Whose song and poetry are the essence of all languages,
Whose ornaments are the moon and the stars
Classical Dances of India are woven with music, rhythms, mythology, local culture, literature, languages, and the devotion of its people, yet they adhere to the discipline of Nāṭya Śāstra, the iconic text attributed to legendary theatrologist, Bharata Muni, with an estimated date of creation a few hundred years before the start of the common era.
